Year 2023
Program Design Process
Duration 3 months
Conduct research on the literary works of Gabriele D’Annunzio and the locations associated with him, using archival sources and/or site visits.
Based on this research, produce a paper, multimedia project, or interactive activity, either individually or collaboratively.
The game is built around the exploration of three key locations in Gabriele D’Annunzio’s life: Pescara, Fiume, and the Vittoriale degli Italiani.
The initial phase involved researching these contexts and translating historical data into narrative and gameplay elements.

Designing the Gameplay
The development of the game involved careful design of its mechanics, aiming to balance entertainment with educational content. Every element was crafted to engage players while conveying insights into Gabriele D’Annunzio’s life and works.
Following an analysis of Gabriele D’Annunzio’s works and a visit to the Vittoriale degli Italiani, several thematic directions emerged.
The project centers on the chosen theme:
“The Inevitable Life of Gabriele D’Annunzio: From Pescara to the Vittoriale.”

The Poet’s Journey
During the game, the poet’s siblings compete to achieve the same fame and recognition, while D’Annunzio himself must reconstruct the key events of his life in chronological order. Players navigate the board and face challenges posed by three pivotal figures: his mother, his father, and Francesco Saverio Nitti, then Prime Minister of Italy.
Designing the Sotries
Each historical figure has been reimagined as an alter ego, crafted to immerse players in their narrative.
Real names, dates, locations, and events are integrated into the gameplay and blended with imaginative elements, creating a hybrid storyline that bridges historical reconstruction and playful storytelling.
